The blog is not finished! But after the Theft (yes, capital letters), the want/need to update the blog took second fiddle to dealing with the Theft and just finishing the trip sans computer. Since being home, it's been hard to get that motivation to complete it. But I will. Ever so slowly. Please be patient!

The Theft

There’s something you should know about Australia. Regardless of the fact that it is a mecca for backpackers from around the world. Regardless of the fact that the country seems to cater to this particular segment of the tourism industry with hostel chains, backpacker packages on buses, and deals galore, the country is still taking financial advantage of us.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the country. The people are great, the men are hot, and the accents are to die for. And while I know that in the end, it came down to a slight lapse of judgment on my part, I’m still putting a lot of the blame for putting me in that situation on Australia’s blatant gauging.

Because if you’re a backpacker, on a tight budget, paying $30+ for a dorm room bed, and the hostel is still charging $10+ for a couple hours of internet, what would you do?

Forests and Baths

Days 266-270, August 20-25, 2011

After Prague, my next stop on my way south was Budapest, Hungary. Whether by good luck or bad luck(all depending on how you look at it), I arrived on the 1011th anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian State. Good luck – fireworks!! Bad luck – nothing open. I wasn’t even aware of the celebrations that would be going on that evening until I got to my hostel and the person at reception let me know.

Day 6-8, Friendship Drinking Game

The following takes place between December 3 and December 5, 2010

My last three days in Canada. My last three days in North America. What better way to spend it but with a couple guys that I’ve been privledged to get to know that past year. It would mean a ton of time in vehicles traveling each day, but in the end, it was completely worth it. And it made this last weekend an absolute blast.

And, ladies and gents, take out your shot glasses! Every time the word friend is mentioned, take a shot(it makes sense, in context)!
